The Fairy Hobmother Cometh, The Fairy Hobmother Giveth

Once upon a time, a beautiful, tall, slim, blonde princess (wah?! it’s my fairytale, I can be a tall beautiful princess if I want) sat in front of her computer screen and wondered would her fairy hobmother ever pay her a visit.  You see our princess had a problem, an addiction if you like.  Cookbooks!  If only her fairy hobmother would visit, wave her magic wand and magic up a cookbook from her wish list.  Or maybe some baking tins.  Or or a tripod for her new super duper camera (that she still doesn’t know how to work).  No, she definitely wanted some more cookbooks to add to her collection.  But then a tripod would be a much more sensible wish.  One day as the indecisive princess tweeted with her subjects a little DM popped up on her screen to tell her she had mail.  There, sitting patiently in her inbox was an email from her fairy hobmother, David.  Wah?! Hang on a second, David?!  OK, OK so the fairy hobmother is in fact a he, but hey if he wants to wear tights and a tutu and bestow presents upon the peoples of the interweb, well who are we to judge, right?  The beautiful princess (I’m loving the poetic licence fairy tales allow) sat and wondered what would she buy with her sparkly Amazon voucher.  She contemplated some pretty books by Leila Lindholm, or a tripod for her camera.  She finally settled on the practical and sensible tripod and it magically appeared at her door a few days later.  She set it up in her kitchen and sat her camera on top and admired how happy they looked together.  She hasn’t used them together though, cos she still can’t figure out how that feckin’ camera works, but I am sure they will all live happily ever after.

Now the fairy hobmother, chief wish granter of Appliances Online, is very generous altogether and would like to sprinkle some magic fairy dust on some lucky readers.  I was lucky enough to receive a visit following a comment I left over on Dinner du Jour.  If you would like to receive a little something nice to brighten up your day simply leave me a little comment to say hi and also to tell the fairy hobmother what your wish is:

eg. “Hi LMUTB, I would love the new cookbook by X and it would make my day if the fairy hobmother could make my wish come true.”

It’s as easy as that.  So leave me a comment and you might be one of the lucky ones and receive a little visit from the fairy hobmother too.

I wish for Rick Stein’s “Spain” and a large jug of Sangria to enjoy with it : )
    Nigella’s “kitchen” looks fab too.
Looking forward to a happy ending : )

    • rosanne says:

      Hi Maria,
The tripod is pretty nifty alright. Should be great once I figure out how to use the camera. Yet another good choice there. Maybe if you are a really good girl the fairy hob(mother)father will pay you a little visit. :)

  5. jane Staunton says:

Hi there, boy would I love a Magimix Gelato Machine? Failing that a magimix food processor, my old one is on its last legs!!

    • rosanne says:

Hi Jane, wow a gelato machine would be super, as would a new food processor. My list of things I NEED is going to get seriously out of control reading all of these wishes. :)

  6. Wholesomecook says:

Hi LMUTB, if you’re chatting to the elusive Fairy Hobmother, she of all the sparkliness, I would love to get a book on sugarcraft or character cakes from the Amazon shop. I just can’t find a decent one here and it’s something I’ve become very interested in. *may* have spent my shoe money on sugarcraft tools in TK Maxx yesterday. Whoops! I believe I may have to make my shoes out of sugarcraft now. LOL

    • rosanne says:

Another great choice Wholesomecook, I have actually bought a few sugarcraft and cake decorating books from Amazon, they have a great selection. I should probably use them more often though. :)

  7. Imen McDonnell says:

    Hello LMUTB,
So THAT’S who the fairy hobmother is!!! Love it! Well, I would love love an ice cream maker…being the dairy goddess that I am, I am dying to try my hand at making some farm fresh ice cream…pretty please with a cherry on top?
    Imen xx

    • rosanne says:

      Hi Imen,
I know, isn’t it great to know that there is a real life fairy hobmother out there granting wishes. Ice cream makers are proving popular and yes as our resident dairy queen I definitely think you need one. Let’s hope a little fairy dust finds it’s way to the farm. :)

  8. Catherine Jones says:

Hi LMUTB, congrats on your wish being granted, I see Aoife over at Babaduck got sprinkled with fairy dust too! Would also love Nigella’s Kitchen book or the new Lilly Higgins, love her blog :o ) Fingers crossed X

    • rosanne says:

Hi Catherine, the fairy hobmother has been very busy indeed granting wishes to Irish food bloggers and their readers. There’s a lot of grá out there for Nigella and Lilly, understandably so as they are both fab. Hope you are lucky and receive a visit. :)

  9. Emz says:

Me likey the sound of this fairy hobmother, very generous indeed.
I’d love a new electric steamer please as mine is most certainly giving up the ghost.

    • rosanne says:

hehehe She is a very generous little fairy Emz. An electric steamer sounds like a great wish. I hope the fairy hobmother visits you, what with you having a lovely new blog and the fact you will be a blushing bride in two weeks. :)

  10. Anita says:

Hi LMUTB, wow the fairy hobmother sounds exciting! I would love the Hummingbird Bakery cookbook or Nigel Slater’s Real Fast Food. Cookbooks are my porn! And it looks like I’m not alone!

  11. CherrySue says:

Hey LMUTB, was going to ask you for recs for a new camera, when you figure your one out I deffny want a rec! As for the wonderful Fairy Hobmother I wonder if his sparkly wand could stretch to Donal Skehan’s fab new book? I’m training up the lads in the art of kitchenry and it would be a lovely incentive for them ;)

    • rosanne says:

Hey missis, well even though I haven’t figured my one out yet I would definitely recommend it. Anyone who knows anything about photography has said to me that it’s an excellent choice. The odd pic that I have flukely taken properly has turned out really well. I also think that half the problem is I need a macor lens for the type of shots I want to take so I just need to invest in one of them now. Ask the guys in Conns Cameras to recommend something to you too, they were really excellent to deal with. As for your wish, I think that is an excellente choice and Donal is definitely the man to get your boys in to the kitchen. :)

  12. Breige says:

Hi LMUTB! If I could dream, I’d love a shiny new KitchenAid mixer. Though I have no proper knives, so I would love if the magically Fairy Hobmother was to grant me some of those!

    • rosanne says:

Hi Breige, well if you are gonna dream you may aswell dream big. :) Both a KitchenAid and shiny new knives sound like great wishes. I hope some magic fairy dust finds it’s way to you.

  13. Niamh says:

Fairyhob mother i’ve been drooling over gwyneth paltrow’s notes from my kitchen table….i just can’t allow myself to buy another cookery book….but if someone else gave it to me…….!!!

    • rosanne says:

Niamh, that’s also on my wishlist (I really do have a cookbook problem). I tried her crabby patti recipe from Something for the Weekend and it was really good. Hope a little magic fairy dust finds it’s way to you. :)

  14. Sara says:

Hi I would love any cookbook that would make my cooking edible? Something simple? And I’d love the fairy hobmother to grant me a fridge freezer as I am now paranoid mine us going to burst into flames!!!!!

    • rosanne says:

Hi Sara, I would recommend Donal Skehan’s books or Jamie Oliver or Rachel Allen’s earlier books. They are all full of really great dishes, easy to cook and really tasty. A fridge freezer would be super too, I didn’t read that story but I did read the headline, did it really just burst into flames?

  15. Books are my passion! I would love to have Fifi O’Neil’s new decorating book, Romantic Prairie Style! Wouldn’t that be fun to just order it with a paid up card? My wish come true! ♥

  16. How fun!

The Fairy Hobmother sounds like a dream come true!

I really wish she/he could bring New Mexico some rain, though
It hasn’t rained in a year and we’re so dry and the fires are burning all over the state.
We are all doing our Rain Dances, but nothing’s working.
Please Fairy Hobmother….a little rain, please?

But if I have to choose an appliance, I’d go for something to mix up the tastiest
Margaritas ever! With this 100 degree heat and no rain…ice cold margaritas
    sure would hit the spot!

    ~Lisa

    • rosanne says:

      Hi Lisa,

Well I’m not sure how good the fairy hobmother is when it comes to rain but I can certainly post you some, we have been getting bucketloads of it here all ‘summer’ long.

Now a Margarita mixer upper device sounds like a very good wish, the 100 degree heat sounds pretty good too. ;)

  17. Kay Ellen says:

Hi Fairy Hobmother and Rosanne! I have been baking bread in my bread machine since they were invented I think…I couldn’t bring the one I had from the US when I moved here in ’94 because, working on a timer, it wouldn’t adapt. So I bought one here making it 17 years old! We have had power cuts over the last several weeks and every time it cut out while baking it restarted when the power returned and this week it gave up. With no bakeries in this area I really rely on my bread machine and would love to have one to replace my old war horse, now gone to appliance heaven. Thank you Fairy Hobmother!

  18. rosanne says:

    Hi Kay Ellen,

Oh noes, you can’t be doing without fresh baked bread. Lets hope a little magic fairy dust finds its way to you. I love a loaf fresh from the oven so I can feel your pain, shop bought just doesn’t come anywhere near to it.

  19. :o ) So nice to meet you LMUTB!
haha…love your post and yes you can be a beautiful, tall, slim blond princess! (sounds like my very first post about me being a baby princess… :o )

Anywhoo…Oh my! The Fairy Hobmother is everywhere, …is everywhere!!! I found you while looking at other blogs that have been visited by the Fairy Hobmother and wanted to see what you would have chosen as a wish. How fun! I would love a Kitchen Aid mixer…just so many things to choose from…they are keeping busy at the Appliance Online site!

    Blessings & Aloha!
…so fun meeting you through blog hopping around seeing what wonderful places and people that the Fariy Hobmother has visited with.

    • rosanne says:

      Hi Maria,

Lovely to ‘meet’ you too. :)

The fairy hobmother is indeed everywhere, sprinkling lots of magic fairy dust all over the interwebs. A KitchenAid is a fab wish, perfect for mixing up lots of yummy scrummy treats.

      Happy blog hopping! :)

  20. Tina Marie says:

What a lucky princess you are…and a fairy named David. Yum-o.
If I were visited I would love to get a bread machine. A gift that keeps on giving…bread all the time!

    Congrats to you.

    • rosanne says:

Tina Marie, I am indeed a very lucky princess. ;) I think a bread machine is an excellent wish, nothing like fresh home baked bread with oodles of melting butter. Nom!

I want the book “Salsas of the World,” which is coming out soon, or has just been published.
